A small practice,
built on purpose.
// Lex Labs is a one-person web development practice. No account managers, no sales engineers, no offshore team. The person you talk to is the person who builds the thing.
Why Lex Labs exists
Most small businesses are stuck with a bad choice. On one side, $79-a-month templates that all look the same and feel a decade old at launch. On the other, agencies that want a $40k discovery phase before they write a line of code.
The middle is where the real work lives. A neighborhood coffee shop. A regional service company. A small startup that needs something real but doesn't need an agency. These are businesses with real customers, real revenue, and a website that doesn't reflect any of it.
Lex Labs exists for those projects. Modern technology, careful design, honest scope. The same standard of work that a Series-B startup gets, scaled to fit a business that actually needs it.
The goal isn't scale. It's a small, respected practice known for craft, honesty, and creative range. The person other small businesses pass between each other as “the one you actually want.”
Six principles
Craft over output
No templates. No recycled solutions. Every project gets thought, care, and the right tool for that specific problem.
Clarity over jargon
Technical work should be explainable. If I can't describe what I built and why, I didn't really understand it.
Calm over urgency
Good work takes the time it takes. I don't manufacture crises to seem busy, and I don't accept manufactured crises from clients.
Honesty over hype
I tell clients what they need to hear. If an idea won't work, I say so. If your site doesn't need a full rebuild, I say so.
Range over specialty
Most problems can't be solved by one discipline. Full-stack thinking, AI fluency, design sensibility, all in the same head.
Proven tools, on purpose
Modern frameworks, but no rewriting the platform. TypeScript, Postgres, well-supported libraries. Code that reads cleanly five years out.
